i was bored. and i was looking at some old pics when i figured i could channel this boredom into a bit more healthy and productive “activity”. so this is what i came up with. combining two pieces of my merdeka celebration memory. i know it’s not 31st of august, but don’t we just love malaysia everyday? (awww…)

♣ PERTANDINGAN DIKIR BARAT, 2001, BILIK REHAT ASRAMA PUTERI ♣

(mengikut rentak lagu phir bhi dil hai hindustani. ya, i know. hey, what do you expect? we were kids. a bunch of creative kids ;p ah-ha! sounds better).

Negaraku
Aman sentosa
Negaraku aman sentosa
Rakyatnya bahagia
Bebas dari penjajah-penjajah yang durjana
Kami sayang Malaysia
Kami cinta Malaysia
Kami sayang Malaysia
Kami cinta oh Malaysia

the rest of the lyrics, i don’t remember. any dreamerz can help me with that? (the pics of us berdikir barat are not appropriate for public display, sorry).

♣ SAMBUTAN HARI KEMERDEKAAN PERINGKAT KEBANGSAAN, 2005, PUTRAJAYA ♣

moral of the story: sayangilah malaysia (dan saya bosan)

Job hunting

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

almost a month and im still jobless. well i got a few calls for interviews but most of them require permanent commitment, which is not possible for me to offer coz my class will start in late feb. other responses come from either single men or too far from this suburb. maaayybe i should just go home. at least, i’ll get to eat whatever i want. at least, i’ll get to see my new anak buahs, kaer and another is coming this dec insyaAllah (gender is not yet identified but i have a strong feeling it’s a boy.. heh.. as if i’m the one who’s carrying the baby). ya i wish… seriously, im only a few clicks away to book a ticket and go home. the only thing that’s holding me back is my financial state. i don’t take pleasure in tightening up my belt all the time but i really do need to start saving up now. it’s now or never, all or nothing.

im still doing some ironing though. the guy (pakcik okayh) drops his shirts here and comes to pick them up after ermmm 3-4 weeks? yup, i may earn a good income from the comfort of my own home but it only happens once in a pink moon. or shall i say it happened only twice? so basically it has not been a really productive holiday.

i’ve applied for the assistant position in almost every childcare centre i can find on the net within a radius of about 10 km. and now i have to keep my options open since childcare centres don’t seem to promise me a future. there’s a childcare agency, the coordinator e-mailed me and said that i need to have a current senior first aid cert in order to get my application finalised. great. i failed my PBSM test in school. i doubt i have even a slight belief in myself that i wont flunk the test to get a cert this time.

and there’s this mom, she needs assistance with some domestic work. she sounds friendly, but all im considering now is the distance. she asked me if i’d be interested for a paid trial this thursday, the day after tomorrow! hmm maybe i should just go, there’s nothing to lose anyway, i hope.

whatever it is, thank God for the internet.

Mujahidin

(Hadis riwayat Bukhari)

It sure is not easy. What’s much harder is to be istiqamah. But that’s what mujahadah is all about, isn’t it? To struggle.

Trial

it's been only one day, and i have to admit this.
it feels weird not having a single soul coming to your blog except you. haha. what's the point of having one if the only allowed reader is the only author? doesn't it defeat the whole purpose of having a blog? you can always turn to your real non-virtual diary if you wish no one to read your writings right? coz things can get really ugly on the net. you put something you think is totally harmless and secluded, next thing you know, people are talking about it.

ok this is twisted. huhu. but as i said, it's not permanent. just wanna see how it goes. and the wisdom behind my action, some things are better left unsaid. ya cliche, i know.
and i notice i'm gradually feeling more comfy to spell properly. like i spell it 'and' instead of 'n'. maybe bcoz of the extra time i've got. or maybe coz it makes everyone's life easier to read. or maybe coz turning 21 makes me more geeky. hehe.
ok gtg. need to do grocery shopping.

tagged by cik ten… hmm… dunno what to write… coz i’ve previously published a long post telling stories behind my name… i’ll give it a shot though :)

“mumu maira” was coined by nad nik pa. not sure how and when she started combining my 2 nicknames, but i’ve been using it since then. some ppl call me mumu, some call maira, mumu maira it is! umai maira or mumu umai doesn’t sound right, does it?

i never knew that ucapan salam perantau would cause a massive stir personally to me. out of the blue tons of messages n friend requests coming in my email inbox, ym, n fs. the online paper made it look compulsory to give your email address along with your photo attachment. and i let myself believe that it would double up the chances of getting my ucapan printed in the newspaper. there were about 3 guys who kindly wanted to “berkenalan” but that’s not my point. thing is, they proposed to call me ira. err hello? reality check – i don’t even know who you are, even my family n friends don’t call me ira. like euww? but of coz i didn’t tell that to them. hehe. replying those kinds of emails would juz be inviting to an extended conversation. boy i even had ppl sending their photos to me. wrong email folks. thanks, but sorry am not interested. and calling me ira doesn’t make it any better. period.

looks like you’re not alone ten. hehe. when i was a kid i also had this wishful thought that i was named azlin instead of humairah coz i used to really like that name. lol. but now i like my name :) coz i think it’s not too common. and bcoz our prophet Muhammad called aisya by that name.

hmm… that’s all i can think of for now… huhu…

i’d like to tag jaja (coz i dunno your real name dear ;p), trah saufee my honey, and alia-ness!

*Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.*

My mom n my sis told me I’ve been “camera friendly” since I was little. But it’s not genetically inherited coz I think I’m the only one in the fam who is suffering from that syndrome. More of self-invented I guess. I still keep those pics of mini me, where I posed as if I was modelling for anakku or kiki lala. From the point and shoot to SLR, I juz can’t resist the urge to possess them. I’ve always had this dream, of becoming a model busana muslimah in the so-called muslimah mags like dara and nur. It WAS actually one of my ambitions (ya, I know. Laugh all u want). I wouldn’t like to mencapub (excuse the salam perantau, that was a special ucapan for my special ones back home), but the fact that u would get to wear pretty new clothes and be photographed by professional photographers, it’s just awesome. But again, there’s no way in the world I would do that. Never. That was juz one of my many dreamworld fantasies. Hehe. A small girl with big dreams I am.

Before I was interviewed for BPG tesl scholarship, I thought the panel was going to ask about global oil price, math and sc in English, the meaning of cemerlang, gemilang, terbilang, the boon and bane of PLKN, etc. Turned out they asked me about my working experience and possible future career. One of the questions was something like diz- what would u do if your husband asked u to stop teaching and become a full time housewife? Hmm it never came across my mind, but I heard myself said- I would stop, bcoz husbands always come first. Ya, that was one bold answer. Then they asked again- but the gov would hav paid for your education? And I replied- then I’d teach at home. I would provide home tuition. (ya rite maira, as if it was that simple). Thinking back, maybe I should hav answered like this instead- oh, I would try to negotiate with him, bla bla bla... But I guess the answer I had given was the point that allowed me to be where I’m at now.

I looovvvee tempe. I like soya bean curd. I’m ok with soya bean drink. But tauhu, the normal square tauhu, it’s juz a major no-no. Weird enough, they’re all derived from the same thing – soya bean. It’s like you’re passing through the custom at an airport, my throat will detect the tauhu, and beep beep beep, off you go. Yes, that also means I don’t like tauhu sumbat. Don’t know why. I tried, but I juz couldn’t. Really made me wanna throw up. Too bad for me, I’ve lost one nikmat. I’m a fan of veggie though :) excluding taugeh, timun, tomato and tauhu. Wait, does tauhu fall under the category of veggie? And what's with the 'T' veggies?

I’m afraid of heights hehe but not severely. So if you need a companion for a roller coaster ride or whatsoever thrill rides, or for the space shot in genting, I am the very very last person you would want to ask. Haha, let alone bungee jumping! It’s soo not in my dictionary (sori kak fad darling ;p I’ll take zillions photos of you ok? If we happen to go to nz). I’ve tried the batman shot in movie world and the corkscrew in genting, and the feelings that kicked in were not cool. We can still have fun in many other ways ;)

Fav girl accessories? I’d go for bags and shoes, and I’d probably rank cosmetics the lowest in my list. Or maybe not in the list at all. I’m not really a constant huge spender actually, but window shopping can undeniably be an effective alternative medicine to me ;p. BUT, my shopping dose has amazingly decreased since I came to oz. I find saving is a lot more fun than shopping if I want to survive here and when I come back to msia. And also bcoz I’ve internalised the phrase “membazir-amalan-syaitan” more here. Allah does tell us not to berlebihan (7:31 and 17:27). 7:31 includes not to pakai and MAKAN berlebihan. Adeh.

I’m a neat and hygiene freak. Almost a perfectionist. But I’m not one ok. At least, that’s what I think. Am I a perfectionist? Nah, don’t think so. Particular, maybe. Or is it just a euphemism for perfectionist? But one thing for sure, I don’t reach to the extent of a total-perfection-freak domestic goddess. Not even close. Nway, my point is I like to keep my things in order. Of coz there are times when I just don’t care, when I’m too lazy or busy. I’m still normal, of coz I hav those shipwreck moments. But once the neat hormone is triggered, there’s no single junk can get on my way ;p hehe. No, I don’t iron my clothes before I fold them. But yes, the hangers in my closet have to be colour and shape coordinated, in other words, they must come from the same exact brand, whatever it may be. Ok now I do sound like a perfectionist, don’t I? Huhu. Guess I am, in certain things, particularly in physically organising my stuff. Scary? Hmm maybe, but it’s good for the eyes and the soul ;p hehe. I wasn’t born like that. Trust me, I was really, really, really a messy girl, until upper secondary school. Messy, i mean it, like really mean it. Not sure what had changed her.

I’m more expressive on paper (or in microsoft word??) than orally. But I think we all do, don’t we? That explains why oral presentations never fail to drive all the butterflies in my stomach crazy. But then I never thought writing about me would be so mentally demanding. That’s the 7th fact! And I think I’ve already given away too much info bout myself. This is one long post!

Now I wanna tag nadia, ery, tikah, n syaz :) cheerio!

Cure for the itch

“Wahai manusia! Sungguh, telah datang kepadamu pelajaran Al-Quran dari Tuhanmu, penyembuh bagi penyakit yang ada dalam dada, dan petunjuk serta rahmat bagi orang yang beriman” (10:57)

Despite the fact that it’s my fav ayat in the holy Quran, I always forgot the message delivered in that ayat. I forgot how the Quran is able to heal all kinds of diseases of ignorance. Allah has given us all the answers we need in that Book.
The ayat is simple and concise, yet so strong. So so strong, that’s why I like it. But then again, all the words from Allah are strong, not only those that I’ve mentioned.

And I’m afraid if I’m one of these people. Nauzubillah. Let’s try not to be. We never know where we stand in the eyes of Allah-

“Dan apabila manusia ditimpa bahaya dia berdoa kepada kami dalam keadaan berbaring, duduk atau berdiri, tetapi setelah Kami hilangkan bahaya itu darinya, dia kembali ke jalan yang sesat, seolah-olah dia tidak pernah berdoa kepada Kami untuk menghilangkan bahaya yang telah menimpanya. Demikianlah dijadikan terasa indah bagi orang-orang yang melampaui batas apa yang mereka kerjakan” (10:12)

Allahuakbar.
