tora datang lagi! (again!)

so yeah, i had my blog hidden from public view for a week (again! but hey, i’ve only done it twice). actually it was a total blackout coz i even didn’t let myself in, assuming it would minimise the tendency of me getting off-task. well it worked in keeping this blog out of my reach, but it didn’t work in getting my eyes off fb. hehe. so technically there were times i landed myself in an empty bubble. after a week treating myself as an outcast to my very own blog, now i’m back, with basically zero ideas of what to write and i end up explaining why i locked everyone out this blog – as you can obviously see now. huhu.

so again, it was just an effort to keep me away from procrastinating (which i should have done earlier, i know. tsk). i had 2 assignments due this week and each cost my brain 2000 words. there’s one more due next week, so i cant leave assignmentsville just yet. then after tuesday, i’ll be officially on 7 weeks holiday :) and why do i say so many ‘so’?
ugh i better stop here.
……………………... <--- that’s me stopping.
ok ignore me. huhu. humairah’s gone cuckoo.

salam...

Wiggly worms

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

finally. the presentation’s over, and i’ve submitted the lesson plan this afternoon. feels like there’s more room to breathe. but cant breathe a huge sigh of relief just yet. here at QUT, 1 sem equals to 13 weeks. and this sem, we've been 'blessed' with 12 assignments. 3 oral presentations and 9 written. that is equivalent to 1 assignment due each week. there’s always a price to pay. good thing we dont have tests and exams. so now, 2 down, 9 more to go! best of luck!

btw, here are some pics of the processes involved in completing our science assignment. it was a pair work. it was a good experience, but to do it again? hmmm maybe not. you’ll see what i mean –

digging for worms in our backyard

someone's hungry. dont try this at home ;p

yummy juicy worms

those who helped us :)
without whom we couldnt have carried out the experiment

making wormeries

their temporary homes

the lesson. my partner fadilah

hopefully that was the first and last i had to teach science.
i'm not narrow-minded, i'm just narrowing my choice ;p

not captured – the experiment and the worms during the lesson.
ironically, both of us, the presenters, the ‘teachers’, are not big fans of worms. we didnt touch those worms at all, not even once. geli. hehehe. we chose to present that topic (earthworms) coz we wanted to do something out of the ordinary. and, it did trigger a sense of curiosity. what i’ve scientifically learned? all of us living souls owe very very much to earthworms. still, that didnt change my mind about getting skin on skin with them. euw ;p huhu.

of course, after that we let them go :) there was no violation of earthworm rights. no animal was intentionally harmed in the making of that presentation. hehe. hmmm actually… some of the worms did get hurt (and died!), but those were pure, honest accidents! even though i dont fancy worms, i believe i’m civilised and humane enough not to purposely kill (or eat!) them.

zillion thanks to sarah and rozy. they definitely deserve some credits. thanks for helping us to empty those drink bottles and find the worms!!! u guys really are wondergirls! ^_^ and fadilah too! luckily we have our ehemmm, australian friend to help us find those australian worms. also thanks to dearest classmates for your cooperation. happy bookworming! (hmm?)

Sama tak serupa

Again, I’m blogging about sooo last week’s events. Hehe. Tight schedule (tight la sgt). Ramadhan’s here. Alhamdulillah, Brissy may not have a bazaar Ramadhan with ayam percik, nasi tomato, and air kelapa, but it surely teaches me waay beyond what Ramadhan in Malaysia has to offer. Don’t get me wrong, not to say saye dah jd mat saleh n forgot my roots, no darlings. Juz dat when u’re in a place where Ramadhan seems juz like another typical month in the year, u’ll try harder to make the best out of Ramadhan so that it is NOT juz another set of 30 days, it IS Ramadhan, THE Ramadhan. In Malaysia u have everything ready rite in front of ur face, but here u've got to work for it. So u’ll be more likely to appreciate everything here.. Hmm… Hope it’s not too late to wish everybody happy fasting :) and to all of you bloghoppers as well. Hehe…

And of coz, happy belated birthday to my sayang… I love u and miss u soooo mucho2… Wish I could be with you… MALAYSIA…..

Last Monday was my last day at East Brisbane State School for a school observation. We went there every other Monday morning, for 3 times. Well, from my experience there I can easily conclude that I’m MATHEMATICALLY CHALLENGED!! Huhuhu… I was assigned to a Year 7 class, and juz my luck, every Monday morning they have math..
Don’t blame me I’m not naturally bright in math, I have excuses for my “slowness”. These may sound lame, but hey, I’m only human ;p (there, ding dong, one excuse). Ok, I don’t know all the numerical terms in English, I was raised as a melayu sejati, I learnt ABC and 123 with my mother tongue ;p ngehehe.. I’m doing language, tesol, so I’m on Muqaffa’s track, rather than Khawarizmi’s. And, it’s been 4 years since I last did complex math, so it’s been a while my left brain’s in the comfort zone. Now I have to use the calculator even for a simple calculation! And one last excuse, the jalan kerja here is a bit different from what my brain schema has. So you see, nature and nurture complement each other. Hehe nah… Moral of the story is- whatever we learn, be it academically or not, we must make sure we have our intention right. Blaja krn Allah, bkn sbb nak exam or org suro… huhu… And yes, practice makes perfectosss :)

After came back from school, I submitted my photomedia assignment. One of the themes is abstraction. Mari teka apekah benda di dalam gamba di bawah ini? Sape dpt teka die pandai ;p heee~ Jawapan akan diberi in the next post, iA… Kamu2 yg sudah tahu jawapannye dilarang meneka... lalala~

p/s to my Ukhti Ramadhan, whoever u are, if u’re reading this, selamat berpuasa ok :)

“Biofuels: The United Nations, in response to the depletion of fossil fuel reserves and the growing pollution problems has convinced an expert group to investigate the feasibility of Biofuels”.

Diz is my group’s refined topic for our learning network assignment. Last nite when I was about to start doing some preparation for our presentation, I discovered something. After weeks of struggling, we acely end up submitting our group reflection instead of our findings in the team findings section. That makes us successfully lose 2 marks out of 10. Great. lalala~

Rite after diz I hav a class at 11... and it’s our presentation. So basically we juz gonna present using powerpoint instead of using our web page.. wish me luck2!
