Sanah hilwah

Sunday, August 24, 2008

Been dealing with the ever-swelling mountain of assessments and other undefined things in my head. Now things seem to have started to fall in the right place, I’ve some times to indulge myself with. Heh, since when does anyone ever consider doing laundry and cleaning up an upside down room as indulging? Could be, if the room grows a tropical forest is the case. To be specific, my room. In that case, na-ah, a forest in a bedroom may not be the coolest thing on earth. Like totally not! Nway, what drives me to write this is I wanna share bout what happened last Saturday. Im a week outdated, but whatever… didn’t have the time… I’ll let the pics do the talking.

Happy birthday sis Lisa, sis Lin, and sis Wina. Again, we had a surprise bday gathering at Sarah’s to celebrate these 3 sisters. (love this pic!)

Everything was home-made. From the laksa to the cekodok pisang. Thanx to all the akhawat involved from the initial to the final phase of this so-called surprise party. (Not that surprise actually. Kantoi in the process. Huhu~)

For them, in the path of Allah, it was worth it :)

The choc cake – baked by Ayu, decorated by Sis Chik.

Another cake. Sanah hilwah sisters.

My fav!! Coz now I know how to make one hehehe… Jazakillah Ayu…

March of the cupcakes. Yummylicous.

Cupcakes. They never fail to tempt me.

"dan Dialah yang menidurkan kamu pada waktu malam dan mengetahui apa yang kamu kerjakan pada siang hari; kemudian Dia bangunkan kamu dari tidur padanya, untuk disempurnakan ajal (masa umur kamu) yang telah ditetapkan. Kemudian kepadaNyalah tempat kamu kembali, kemudian Dia menyatakan kepada kamu apa yang kamu lakukan" (6:60)

Happy ending

Monday, August 18, 2008

Can I stuff the witches, dragons, and villains parts and skip to the happy ending?
Oh wait, I can’t. Coz –

A) im no princess!
B) im not in a fairy tale in the first place,
C) honey, fairy tales are juz told tales, they’re not real!
D) im 21, get real!
E) and yes, have I mentioned that Disney supports Israel? (ade kena mengenakah?)
F) biggy questy – who guarantees it’s a happy ending again???

Hmmm… so much for my happy ending… yet, Allah knows best (2:216)…

And the right answer regarding the witches, dragons, and villains – “dan Kami pasti akan menguji kamu dengan sedikit ketakutan, kelaparan, kekurangan harta, jiwa, dan buah-buahan. Dan sampaikanlah kabar gembira kepada orang2 yang sabar” (2:155)

“… ingatlah, hanya dengan mengingat Allah hati menjadi tenteram” (13:28)

it’s so hard to let go

Allah knows best

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Not really a big fan of copy and paste others’ pieces of writing into my blog.. but when I read diz, I feel so overwhelmed...

I asked for strength and Allah gave me difficulties to make me strong. I asked for wisdom and Allah gave me problems to solve. I asked for prosperity and Allah gave me brawn and brain to work. I asked for courage and Allah gave me dangers to overcome. I asked for patience Allah placed me in situations where I was forced to wait. I asked for love and Allah gave me troubled people to help. I asked for favors and Allah gave me opportunities. I received nothing I wanted. I received everything I needed.

It’s so true… isn’t it?

“Allah tidak membebani seseorang melainkan sesuai dengan kesanggupannya. …” (2:286)

“Diwajibkan atas kamu berperang, padahal itu tidak menyenangkan bagimu. Tetapi boleh jadi kamu tidak menyukai sesuatu, padahal itu baik bagimu, dan boleh jadi kamu menyukai sesuatu, padahal itu tidak baik bagimu. Allah mengetahui, sedang kamu tidak mengetahui” (2:216)

Ya, I might have lost some things that I thought were good for me, but come to think that the true purpose of life as a Muslim is to please Allah, I’ve probably lost nothing after all…

“Aku tidak menciptakan jin dan manusia melainkan agar mereka beribadah kepada-Ku” (51:56)

Oh Allah, guide me…..

Ada apa dengan nama

Friday, August 15, 2008

I should be doing my ICT assignment… but my action now indicates that my brain is NOT receiving the right message… oh girl, u need to work harder….

As far as I can recall, the last person I know named humairah or umairah or anything that sounds like mine, is kak mai, yana’s cuzzy. She was a senior when I was in lower primary school.
I mean, really, there was no other humairah in smap.
Until, I went to Melbourne. Oh gosh, there were – umai brisbane, umai uk, umai melbourne, etc. Apekah?? That moment, the thought “im-not-that-special-anymore” struck me. *poyoness me* So the point is, there’s no point actually… hehehe… told ya it’s juz me being poyo…
They say our names suggest our personalities, so it’s good to see other humairahs… see if anyone proves the notion… but then, im no one to judge… and I don’t even know if their names are spelled ‘humairah’ or ‘umairah’ or whatsoever, coz the meaning differs from one another…
Well, nway… sometimes ppl ask me about my name… so maybe that’s where ‘the point’ can fit in... huhu…

Fyi, nur means cahaya… ok, I know u know that…
Moving on, humairah means kemerah-merahan… (umairah means puteri@princess, if i'm not mistaken.. Now Fadilah, that’s what I call real princess ;p)
Hmm… don’t usually reveal this in public, but my family membs call me nur… yup, im also not sure why, maybe bcoz they couldn’t find a shorter form of humairah.. or maybe bcoz my eldest sis has already been called ‘ira’ (hasni raha)…
or maybe, when I was born, I was really like a light shining through the window, that came after the storm (errrr??? fast forward pls…)
My skdhb (primary school) friends call me maira…
My smap friends call me mumu… only 2 or 3 call me umai, maira, humairah…. The seniors call me umai… The juniors call me kak mumu... ‘mumu’ was initiated by wan nor asliza, the one I sat next to when we were first formers… thanks to her, I didn’t hear anyone asked “nk pggil humairah ke, ade name pendek lg?” anymore… mumu has no meaning, but juz for the sake of a nickname, I don’t really mind as long as the name doesn’t carry a bad meaning.
In ipba, I introduced myself as umai… I don’t know why, I cant seem to use ‘mumu’ in a new place… maybe bcoz ive been with the dreamerz for so long it feels weird to ask strangers to call u with the name ur “we’ve-lived-together-for-5-years” friends use to call u.. u get what I mean rite??
But, looking at my situation in Melbourne, why does every humairah have to be addressed as umai? Adeh… huhu… Maybe I should have juz sticked to mumu..

Hmm.. talking bout names, lets sing Asma’ul husna… I mean it, seriously… lets think, when was the last time we sang those beautiful names of Allah? We have time to sing from elvis presleys' to chris browns' and memorise the lyrics by heart, insyaAllah it wont kill us to sing Asma’ul husna :) we’re alone in our rooms anyway, so no worries bout cracking other ppl up. Oki doki… give it a go… :)

Bismillah…

23/6 – fly

Ok. So, the day we flew off from sydney to melbourne was not my favourite part of the story. Long story short, we were stuck at the airport for 12 hours. Not to mention I woke up 430 in the morning to catch the plane. At first the flite was delayed. Then delayed again. And again. And again. And finally, cancelled. But alhamdulillah, we managed to really get on the plane at around 830 pm. Nway, it wasn’t that bad though. We had free foods, hot choc (aaah~), met other Malaysians, and tarbiyah for ourselves.

25/6 – phillip island trip. Nobbies. Penguin parade

26/6 – ISK (ini sejarah kita) by kak ja

27/6 – IPK (ini peranan kita) by kak elli. from clayton to melb city.

13/7 – Adelaide road trip. Great ocean road.

14/7 – Adelaide city. Uni of adel. Victor harbor

15/7 – Adelaide-melbourne. Giant playground. Strawberry farm.

16/7 – fly. Brisbane. Finally, after one month on the road. Tp sedey tgglkn melb.

Honestly, at first I was quite reluctant when kak lin told me we were going to be in melb for 3 weeks. Coz rase segan sgt tumpg umah org for too long. And rase, what we gonna do in melb smpai 3 mggu? But as I was in melb, I found myself starting to understand. I saw the picture of this whole thing. I’ve learned so much, jazakunallah to akhawat brissy n melb… kak lin, kak cik, kak wina… kak ainun, kak zaza, kak azza, kak aini, kak syikin who provided the shelter… kak ja, kak sufia, kak rina, kak balkhis, kak abby, kak maleen, kak intan, adek, izyan yg jage dak2 brissy yg semangat tak ingt dunia nih huhu (bgsla, ingt akhirat ;p).. sori if I miss anyone out…

Recently, I came across these ayats.

“Wahai orang2 yang beriman! Mengapa apabila dikatakan kepada kamu, ‘berangkatlah untuk berperang dijalan Allah’, kamu merasa berat dan ingin tinggal di tempat mu? Apakah kamu lebih menyenangi kehidupan di dunia daripada kehidupan di akhirat? Padahal kenikmatan hidup di dunia ini dibandingkan dengan kehidupan di akhirat hanyalah sedikit” (9:38)

I was like, whoa, that, definitely hits me. Ok, another ayat.

“Dan orang2 yang beriman dan berhijrah serta berjihad di jalan Allah, dan orang2 yang memberi tempat kediaman dan memberi pertolongan kepada orang muhajirin, mereka itulah orang yang benar beriman. Mereka memperoleh ampunan dan rezeki yang mulia” (8:74)

That goes for akhawat melb :)

Love u all fillah…
