rosymberl

Sunday, January 9, 2011

many people asked me, and some of you might still be wondering. what is rosymberl? what does it mean?

it doesn't have a meaning per se. i came up with that name when i was in form 4. it's derived from a few words that had meanings in my life at that particular time.

rosymberl - my name's humairah. which means kemerah-merahan. hence, the word 'rosy'.

rosymberl - 'mber' comes from the word 'december'. i don't know why but i just love the name 'december'. it just looks and sounds nice. of course, if spelled in english. hehe. 'disember'? errrr nope. i'll stick to 'december'. can you see the difference between those two? haha ok ignore me. but yeah, i love it and used it as one my nicknames for chatting when mirc was the 'it' thing to school kids. yup, before facebook rules planet earth. and i think i started to like that name after i heard the song 'my december' by linkin park. loved the song. was a big fan of linkin park and 'my december' doesn't sound like their other typical shout-at-the-top-of-my-lungs songs.

rosymberl - 'berl' comes from 'beryl's'. as in the chocolate and it was one of my favs.

so, rosymberl it is. been using it since. for e-mail, facebook, youtube, etc. it is me. rosymberl is me. i am rosymberl. but i'm not too certain if i'm the sole user of that name or word or term or whatever you may call it. it'd be cool if i could have ownership of it (^_^)

till then. this is me, rosymberl.

tagged by cik ten… hmm… dunno what to write… coz i’ve previously published a long post telling stories behind my name… i’ll give it a shot though :)

“mumu maira” was coined by nad nik pa. not sure how and when she started combining my 2 nicknames, but i’ve been using it since then. some ppl call me mumu, some call maira, mumu maira it is! umai maira or mumu umai doesn’t sound right, does it?

i never knew that ucapan salam perantau would cause a massive stir personally to me. out of the blue tons of messages n friend requests coming in my email inbox, ym, n fs. the online paper made it look compulsory to give your email address along with your photo attachment. and i let myself believe that it would double up the chances of getting my ucapan printed in the newspaper. there were about 3 guys who kindly wanted to “berkenalan” but that’s not my point. thing is, they proposed to call me ira. err hello? reality check – i don’t even know who you are, even my family n friends don’t call me ira. like euww? but of coz i didn’t tell that to them. hehe. replying those kinds of emails would juz be inviting to an extended conversation. boy i even had ppl sending their photos to me. wrong email folks. thanks, but sorry am not interested. and calling me ira doesn’t make it any better. period.

looks like you’re not alone ten. hehe. when i was a kid i also had this wishful thought that i was named azlin instead of humairah coz i used to really like that name. lol. but now i like my name :) coz i think it’s not too common. and bcoz our prophet Muhammad called aisya by that name.

hmm… that’s all i can think of for now… huhu…

i’d like to tag jaja (coz i dunno your real name dear ;p), trah saufee my honey, and alia-ness!

Ada apa dengan nama

Friday, August 15, 2008

I should be doing my ICT assignment… but my action now indicates that my brain is NOT receiving the right message… oh girl, u need to work harder….

As far as I can recall, the last person I know named humairah or umairah or anything that sounds like mine, is kak mai, yana’s cuzzy. She was a senior when I was in lower primary school.
I mean, really, there was no other humairah in smap.
Until, I went to Melbourne. Oh gosh, there were – umai brisbane, umai uk, umai melbourne, etc. Apekah?? That moment, the thought “im-not-that-special-anymore” struck me. *poyoness me* So the point is, there’s no point actually… hehehe… told ya it’s juz me being poyo…
They say our names suggest our personalities, so it’s good to see other humairahs… see if anyone proves the notion… but then, im no one to judge… and I don’t even know if their names are spelled ‘humairah’ or ‘umairah’ or whatsoever, coz the meaning differs from one another…
Well, nway… sometimes ppl ask me about my name… so maybe that’s where ‘the point’ can fit in... huhu…

Fyi, nur means cahaya… ok, I know u know that…
Moving on, humairah means kemerah-merahan… (umairah means puteri@princess, if i'm not mistaken.. Now Fadilah, that’s what I call real princess ;p)
Hmm… don’t usually reveal this in public, but my family membs call me nur… yup, im also not sure why, maybe bcoz they couldn’t find a shorter form of humairah.. or maybe bcoz my eldest sis has already been called ‘ira’ (hasni raha)…
or maybe, when I was born, I was really like a light shining through the window, that came after the storm (errrr??? fast forward pls…)
My skdhb (primary school) friends call me maira…
My smap friends call me mumu… only 2 or 3 call me umai, maira, humairah…. The seniors call me umai… The juniors call me kak mumu... ‘mumu’ was initiated by wan nor asliza, the one I sat next to when we were first formers… thanks to her, I didn’t hear anyone asked “nk pggil humairah ke, ade name pendek lg?” anymore… mumu has no meaning, but juz for the sake of a nickname, I don’t really mind as long as the name doesn’t carry a bad meaning.
In ipba, I introduced myself as umai… I don’t know why, I cant seem to use ‘mumu’ in a new place… maybe bcoz ive been with the dreamerz for so long it feels weird to ask strangers to call u with the name ur “we’ve-lived-together-for-5-years” friends use to call u.. u get what I mean rite??
But, looking at my situation in Melbourne, why does every humairah have to be addressed as umai? Adeh… huhu… Maybe I should have juz sticked to mumu..

Hmm.. talking bout names, lets sing Asma’ul husna… I mean it, seriously… lets think, when was the last time we sang those beautiful names of Allah? We have time to sing from elvis presleys' to chris browns' and memorise the lyrics by heart, insyaAllah it wont kill us to sing Asma’ul husna :) we’re alone in our rooms anyway, so no worries bout cracking other ppl up. Oki doki… give it a go… :)

Bismillah…
